Businertia announced today that it has completed a pilot program to test the migration process it will incorporate into its midsourcing service for small businesses. The migration process successfully moved an organization from Windows XP 32bit to Windows 7 professional 64bit and met key criteria established for this process.
As part of its mission to be an all encompassing IT department for small businesses, Businertia has taken a critical step in evolving its midsourcing service to properly migrate to environments with little to no service interruption. This pilot program involved the migration of more than 40% of an infrastructure that had at least 3 critical industry specific applications and traditional productivity applications. Midsourcing has been a more research focused service model and its application to a migration from Windows XP to Windows 7 made this focus a very key difference in the outcomes obtained.
The migration was planned over a period of months and research and testing had been conducted as part of a routine midsourcing service agreement. The equipment was prepared and ultimately installed on campus with as little as 30 minutes of interruption per employee. While the time spent on the entire project is still being evaluated, the time on site was limited to less than 60 minutes per workstation meeting a key milestone for workstation replacements that Businertia recently achieved with its workstation replacement process it built into its midsourcing service earlier this year.
Businertia will refine its process and plans to include it in midsourcing agreements as early as May of this year.Traditional IT consulting services use managed service models to feed premium projects and they would treat a migration like a project and bill for time spent, while this service will be provided as part of Businertia's core midsourcing contract service.
